Hi everyone, I'm Lauren Bell. I'm a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and the Clinical Director of The Yorkshire Therapist.
I have been working in primary care mental health for over 16 years and have a wealth of experience of providing evidence based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR. I am also a Lecturer, Clinical Supervisor and I am  fully accredited by the BABCP.

Services provided by myself and my team include assessment and treatment of a range of common mental health problems, including Depression and Anxiety Disorders. We offer various talking therapies including, CBT, EMDR, Mindfulness, ACT, Compassion Focused Therapy and Counselling.

We also work closely with employers, providing bespoke mental wellbeing packages. These packages include 1-1 therapy sessions and educational 'workplace wellbeing' days which educate staff and reduce sickness absence.

WHAT IS COGNITIVE BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence based form of psychotherapy which looks at how we think, feel and behave. It is an effective treatment for a range of common mental health problems and is recommended by NICE guidance. CBT aims to empower patients by teaching them how to understand and then overcome their problems. It is highly collaborative treatment, with the ultimate aim making you, your own therapist.

WHAT DOES CBT TREAT?

CBT is an effective treatment for a range of common mental health problems including:

  • Depression

  •  Anxiety

  • Generalised Anxiety Disorder

  • OCD

  • Health Anxiety

  • Phobias 

  • PTSD

  • Social Anxiety

  • Body Dysmorphia

  • Panic Disorder

  • Eating Disorders

  • Low Self Esteem

  • Long Term Health Conditions (Chronic pain, fibromyalgia etc).

COMMON INTERVENTIONS

CBT uses a blend of Cognitive and Behavioural Techniques. A commonly used Cognitive Technique is Cognitive Restructuring which aims to teach patients how to challenge and balance out negative thoughts. A common behavioural technique is Behavioural Activation which aims to lift mood by changing peoples activity levels.

Clinical supervision sessions for Cognitive Behavioural Therapists provided via Zoom or Telephone.

CORPORATE WELLBEING DAYS

Are you a conscientious employer who wants to aid and support staff well-being? If so these well being days may be for you. I provide half or full day wellbeing workshops through my sister company Sensus Wellbeing. These days centre around teaching staff about common mental health problems, how to spot difficulties with their mental health and what they can do to manage and treat symptoms. This can help staff to feel happier at work and can help employers manage mental health related sick days. Please get in touch to discuss how I can create a personalised package for your team.
